RIDESAFE Equestrian Mobile App Privacy Policy

​RIDESAFE Equestrian (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy.

This Privacy Policy explains how the RIDESAFE Equestrian mobile application (“App”) collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the App.

This policy applies only to the RIDESAFE Equestrian mobile application.

By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect:

A. Account Information

When you create an account, we may collect:

• Email address
• Phone number
• Emergency contact names
• Emergency contact phone numbers
• Relationship to emergency contacts
• SMS consent metadata

RIDESAFE Equestrian does not require a dedicated first name field for user accounts.

B. Location Information

RIDESAFE Equestrian collects precise GPS location data during an active ride session, including while the App is running in the background.

Location data is used solely to:

• Display your ride route within the App
• Share your live ride location with designated emergency contacts
• Enable continuous safety monitoring during a ride
• Store ride history within your account

Location tracking:

• Begins when you tap “Start Ride”
• Continues during an active ride session, including background operation
• Stops immediately when you end the ride

RIDESAFE Equestrian does not collect location data outside of an active ride session.

​Location access, including background location access, is requested only with your permission and can be controlled in your device settings at any time.

C. Motion and Fall Detection Data

RIDESAFE Equestrian uses device motion sensors, including accelerometer and gyroscope data, during an active ride session.

Motion data is used solely to:

• Detect potential falls
• Trigger fall detection alerts
• Activate safety notifications

Motion data is not used for advertising or third-party tracking.

D. Microphone Access and Speech Recognition

RIDESAFE Equestrian may request microphone access to enable voice-command safety features.

Microphone access is used only for:

• Voice-triggered ride controls
• Voice-activated safety commands

​RIDESAFE Equestrian does not record, store, or transmit audio data.

Speech Recognition

If you choose to use our voice features, our app may request access to your microphone and utilize Apple’s speech recognition service to process your spoken words and convert them to text. When you use this feature:

-Your voice input is securely sent to Apple’s servers for transcription.

- The resulting text is used in-app only for your requested actions (such as [example: starting/stopping rides, creating notes, etc.]).

- We do not permanently store or share your audio recordings or transcribed text beyond what is necessary for app functionality.

- You may revoke microphone or speech recognition permissions at any time in your device settings.

- Audio and speech data are processed by Apple according to their privacy policy, available here: [Apple Privacy Policy](https://www.apple.com/privacy/).

Declining permission will disable speech recognition features, but will not affect other app functionality.

E. Notifications 

With your permission, our app may send you push notifications. These notifications are used to [provide ride updates, reminders, safety alerts, and other important information related to your app usage].

- We do **not** collect personal data simply by sending notifications.

- You may control or disable notifications at any time via your device’s settings.

- Notification permissions are requested solely to keep you informed about features and events you enable within the app.

F. Ride History Data

RIDESAFE Equestrian stores ride-related information including:

• Ride start and end times
• GPS location points
• Safety event markers
• Ride metadata associated with your account

Ride data remains in your account until:

• You delete it within the App, or
• You request account deletion

You may permanently delete ride history at any time using the “Clear All” feature within the Ride History section.

2. How We Use Your Information

RIDESAFE Equestrian uses collected information to:

• Provide real-time ride tracking
• Send SMS alerts when a ride begins
• Send safety check-in alerts
• Send fall detection alerts
• Send overdue ride alerts
• Send panic button alerts
• Allow emergency contacts to confirm monitoring
• Display ride history within your account
• Respond to customer support requests
• Comply with legal obligations

RIDESAFE Equestrian does not sell, rent, or trade personal information.

RIDESAFE Equestrian does not use your data for advertising, marketing profiling, or third-party tracking.

3. Emergency Contact Communications

Emergency contact information is stored securely.

Emergency contacts may receive SMS notifications including:

• Ride start alerts
• Ride monitoring confirmations
• Safety check-in alerts
• Fall detection alerts
• Overdue ride alerts
• Panic alerts

Emergency contacts do not have direct access to your RIDESAFE Equestrian account.

4. SMS Communications and Opt-Out Processing

RIDESAFE Equestrian uses Twilio, a third-party service provider, to deliver SMS notifications.

Phone numbers are shared with Twilio solely for:

• Delivery of ride-related notifications
• Processing opt-out requests (STOP)
• Responding to HELP inquiries

Opt-out and keyword responses are handled securely through webhook processing.

5. Subscriptions and Payments

RIDESAFE Equestrian offers subscription plans processed through Apple’s App Store.

• Payments, renewals, and cancellations are managed through your Apple ID account
• 
RIDESAFE Equestrian does not collect, store, or process payment card or financial information

RIDESAFE Equestrian may receive limited subscription-related information from Apple, such as subscription status, purchase confirmation, and expiration dates, for the sole purpose of providing access to subscription features.

Subscription pricing is displayed within the App at the time of purchase.

6. Data Storage and Security

RIDESAFE Equestrian stores backend data using secure cloud infrastructure.

We implement safeguards including:

• Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/SSL)
• Secure database access controls
• Row-Level Security (RLS) restricting access to user-owned data

While reasonable safeguards are implemented, no system can guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Ride data and account information are retained until:

• You delete ride history within the App, or
• You request account deletion

You may request account deletion under:

Settings → Privacy & Data → Request Data Deletion

Upon verification, RIDESAFE Equestrian will permanently delete:

• Account information
• Ride history and associated GPS location data
• Emergency contact information
• Stored app preferences

Some limited information may be retained if required by law or to prevent fraud or abuse.

Deletion requests are processed within 30 days of verification.

8. Children’s Privacy

RIDESAFE Equestrian is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age.

RIDESAFE Equestrian does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access your personal information
• Correct inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your data
• Request a copy of stored information

10. Changes to This Policy

RIDESAFE Equestrian may update this Privacy Policy periodically.

Updated versions will be posted within the App and/or on our website with a revised effective date.

RIDESAFE Equestrian may contain links to third-party websites or products. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services once you leave the App.
